70 years of dpa
The German Press Agency turns 70 on August 18, 2019, making it the same age as the Federal Republic of Germany. dpa has closely followed the contemporary history of our country, with reliable and up-to-date reporting: about the founding of the new state, the first coalition of Social Democrats and Liberals, RAF terrorism, reunification, the first female chancellor and of course winning the World Cup title in 2014. And dpa has always represented the country's view of the world too: whether of the founding and expansion of the European Union, natural disasters or the 9/11 terror attacks.
70 years of independent agency journalism are a valuable legacy. Our mission is to deal responsibly with this heritage. This annual report addresses precisely this issue: What does the anniversary mean for the day-to-day work at dpa?
In the editorial department, the IT department or at the various subsidiaries? How can our history help us on our path towards the future?
Because that's exactly what it's about: a look back at an eventful past. But not as an end in itself. Rather, first and foremost, as a way to also look ahead. As valuable inspiration, motivation and responsibility for the future path of dpa.
